The following letter was sent by our English teacher Sayama Daw May San Yee who taught us ‘Grammar and Syntax’ and ‘Semantics’ when we were MA students at the University of Yangon. I copied this letter and delivered the students of our office.
Dear all my colonels,
I
got your letter just now and I was very surprised to see your Season’s
greeting card with all your names. I can’t express how happy I was and
how proud of you all I was, as I don’t have anyone from Pyinmana or
Nay-Pyi-Daw, sending such cards. A Very Happy New Year to YOU all!
How
are you getting on with your work? I hope you all are fine. As for me,
as you all know, all my time is occupied with my work. I’m very busy
with my classes as well as office work. Here, I’m taking English
specialization classes, one MA II class, one for Third year and First
Year Honours students and one for First year students. So, I am always
in my class, educating them what I have learnt and known.
Thank
you for your card, and your rememberance. This makes me sure that you
all still remember me though I always scolded you. I don’t think I have
such students who will remember me after they get their degrees. I know
that I am not very nice to any student though I love them. I never speak
and act smartly. Anyway, I’m very proud of you all and I’d like to send
a message: “Prove your work in terms of work”.
Thanks again. Please send my love and rememberance to all your friends.
With love,
MAY SAN YEE
MAGWAY
( per kindness of Mg Aung Pyae Mu, I’ve sent a letter to all you friends. Thanks )
